Company Overview

Our client is a long-established multinational Medical Devices manufacturing firm. They are seeking an individual with a career track record in managing a large scale Distribution Center and Logistics team.

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Distribution Center Manager is responsible for the management and direction of daily activities of distribution center employees to achieve assigned performance objectives. Plan, direct, and oversee the shipping of product both domestically and globally. Will drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology. The Distribution Center Manager will establish a culture of teamwork and promote an environment to facilitate individual personnel development, enhance problem-solving skills and increased employee involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop performance metrics and drive activities to achieve predetermined results
  • Maintain an environment of continuous improvement through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology
  • Coordinate shipping carriers to ensure the product is shipped on time to proper locations
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard work for all product distribution processes
  • Conform to and enforce the requirements of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Represent company management in first step grievance
  • Provide daily direction for Distribution Center employees
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets and assure compliance to approved budgets
  • Facilitate the development of team structure throughout the department and promote a collaborative culture
  • Plan and organize resources to fulfill distribution requirements, reporting progress as required
  • Recommend and implement controls to ensure that quality standards are met
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to ensure that departmental goals are met
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained through involvement in hiring, training, and development
  • Actively drive and maintain a safe work environment and HAZOP process
  • Other duties as may be required from time to time at this or other divisions of the corporation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 8+ years relevant experience
  • Proven track record of the setup and management of successful Distribution Centers or Warehouses
  • Knowledge of the use of an ERP software
  • Lean manufacturing Six Sigma, Kaizen, 6S principles a plus
  • Training Requirements for cross-functional teams in APICS CPIM, PMI a plus
